The Together Through Culture project was launched in 2011/12 to create a greater sense of reconciliation between the nationalist and unionist communities through the education system.
38 schools came together from places like East Belfast, Lisnaskea and Newtownards to take part in the project. The Irish culture and language works as a vehicle for reconciliation in the workshops.
Meon Eile attended a workshop in Ballymena recently.
They enquired about the project and asked some of the pupils of their opinions on Irish culture.
The International Fund for Ireland provided Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta with £300,000 to set up and manage the programme over two years (2011-2013)
The Together Through Culture project is one of 22 that is funded under the International Fund for Ireland’s ‘Sharing in Education’ programme.
This project and the other 22 projects will all formally come to an end at the end of this year (Christmas 2013)
