Principals’ Forum

Fóram na bPríomhoidí is open to all principals and heads of IM units at primary and post-primary level within the IM sector. The Forum meets once a term and its aim is to facilitate opportunities for networking between IM principals and to promote collegiality within the IM sector. The Forum also provides Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta with an opportunity to consult with the sector, and to inform the wider sector on its priority work areas.

Teacher Professional Learning is a key area promoted by the Forum and principals are invited to avail of TPL opportunities from within and beyond the sector, in order to improve teaching and learning experiences for all pupils in IME.

Trauma and Stress Resources

St.Mary’s University College Belfast was host to the Irish-medium Principals’ Forum recently, with 30 principals and IM Unit Leaders in attendance.

Those attending availed of an excellent TPL opportunity provided by Joanna Brown from the Safeguarding Board NI. Joanna facilitated training on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), a difficult but important issue to consider in our classrooms. On behalf of the Forum, we would like to thank Joanna for her informative presentation and invaluable insight into such an important aspect of our pupils’ lives.

Please see below useful resources from Safeguarding Board NI on stress and trauma. We are extremely grateful to Joanna Brown from SBNI for facilitating the translation of these resources into Irish.
